Key Largo Wedding
Key Largo is a census-designated place and town in Monroe County, Florida, located on the island of Key Largo, in the upper Florida Keys. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 11,886. The name comes from the Spanish Cayo Largo, or "long island". It is the first island of the Florida Keys and the originating point of the Overseas Highway to Key West.
The film, Key Largo (1948), starring Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart was set there. Key Largo is located at 25624N, 802548W (25.106637, -80.429917)GR1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 39.6 km (15.3 mi). 31.5 km (12.1 mi) of it is land and 8.1 km (3.1 mi) of it (20.54%) is water. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 11,886 people, 5,245 households, and 3,288 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 377.7/km (978.1/mi). There were 8,043 housing units at an average density of 255.6/km (661.9/mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 94.38% White, 2.04% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.95% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.65% of the population.
